I spent Labor Day weekend lifting the divorced transfer case three inches in my MBZ 300td turbo diesel wagon with the Nissan 4x4 frame project. The coupler shaft from the transmission to the TC was running at too steep of an angle. The domino effect present in all conversions was alive and well: I had to cut a big chunk out of two cross members in the frame to accomodate the now higher front and rear drive shafts. I suitably made up for the loss of strength elsewhere, of course. I had to seriously modify the driveshaft tunnel of the wagon body, welding in bulges on either side between the seats. After that was done the seat tracks were too wide so I narrowed them 1. 5". The coolest part of the story is that I drove it Saturday morning and the vibration was gone. You are looking at (or at least reading the ramblings of) one happy man.
