I spent Labor Day weekend lifting the divorced transfer case three inches in my MBZ 300td turbo diesel wagon with the Nissan 4x4 frame project. The coupler shaft from the transmission to the TC was running at too steep of an angle. The domino effect present in all conversions was alive and well: I had to cut a big chunk out of two cross members in the frame to accomodate the now higher front and rear drive shafts. I suitably made up for the loss of strength elsewhere, of course. I had to seriously modify the driveshaft tunnel of the wagon body, welding in bulges on either side between the seats. After that was done the seat tracks were too wide so I narrowed them 1. 5". The coolest part of the story is that I drove it Saturday morning and the vibration was gone. You are looking at (or at least reading the ramblings of) one happy man.

Good job! I know what you mean about the domino effect. I sure had few things like that on My IH scout I converted. Do you have any pictures of your project?

Brian, do you have any pics of your rig? Are you running MBZ power or Nissan? MYy wife has a '84 300 turbo wagon and I couldn't pry it away from her.

Yes, I do have a few pictures of an earlier stage of the project. I tried posting them but a message came up that they were too big. If you want to email me I can send them to you directly. My address is broth@sanjuan. edu. I should have some better, more recent pictures within a couple of weeks. I'm running the MBZ motor and transmission. I drove the car around Pollock Pines this weekend with its new mags and a wash and wax. A lot of looks and a lot of fun!
