Vibration on my '05, CTD, 4x4, 6 manual, Kore suspension.

I have all of the sudden, vibration when I accelerate or deccelerate. It seems to come from from the front end and feels a bit like the drive shaft has a "ding"! I have not hit anything. The vibration is there when I am coasting too, changed pressure in the tires and rotated the tires no change. What can I do do to find out if it is the front drive shaft?

Many thanks.

Can't you slip the shaft off?

Is the vibration just in the front end? What kind of tires are you running. I had a 4 WD that picked up a very annoying vibration about a month after I put a new set of tires on. It was the way the tires were wearing.

Did some digging... .

Drive line angle out of wack, seams to be the most likely problem!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

That, or you have U joints/ double cardan joints on their way out. For whatever reason, these joints on a 3rd gen wear out VERY QUICKLY once they decide to act up. My rear shaft went suddenly, like in 50 miles, from barely noticeable to WTH is going on here??? Ask Chris Harlan, we were out driving around that day , happened right at 100,000 miles. Front double cardan went south 2 weeks ago at 151k miles.

talked to someone today with same problem. was u-joint rear drive line.

This was my point from an earlier thread. Remove the front driveshaft to troubleshoot if it's the front or rear

ujoints

had second u/joint go at 90K, first at 60K. vibration seemed to be in front end both times. Found that the centre u/joint did not aline with front yokes through the steady bearing. Had to file out the master spline to get proper alinement on drive line from front to back sections. Has any body else seen the problem. Deales has seen this on two trucks.

My truck recently had a vibration like that in the front end. I removed the drive shaft and found that it was the problem. It took it to have it rebuilt but the told me it was cheaper to buy a whole new driveshaft. Is this true? If so does anybody know of a good source for a front driveshaft.

Cost me almost $500 for mine to be done, along with a new carrier bearing. as to your question ona good source... how does this sound... late night on your dealers lot!! ;)

i should have mentioned that my problem turned out to be the rear drive shaft. We found the the yokes throught the centre joint would not aline untill we filed off the master spline, to alow proper alinement between fron and rear halves of shaft
