Vibration starts at 64mph. ends at 70 mph. Attended Diesel 101 class at Carson Dodge in Nevada. I asked John Homes during the class about the problem. He brushed me off saing it was a cummins thing. A lot of money for a truck with a built in vibration. Service manager said if I find a fix let him know. Anyone have the same problem? Thanks. Merkel G. :(

Sorry to hear about your problem and the lack of support.

If tour truck is an '06, though, you'd probably get more help if you moved your post to the 5. 9L forum.

Good Luck.

I ordered an '07 after test driving an '06. Test drive indicated a total absense of noise, vibration, etc. I purposely left the Infinity sound system off in order to try and find something wrong with that truck to no avail. Something's not Kosher with your truck. I'm surprised John Holmes brushed you off.

I'm not surprised. It takes a LOT of work to correct a issue like that. Sometimes it won't correct. HE didn't want to open PANDORA's box. More then likely its not a CUMMINS thing but a DRIVELINE thing.

Suspect three things (in this order):

Tire Balance.

Driveline u joints.

Rear Diff.

Get the tires road force balanced. Discount Tire has a machine. Puts a load on the tire while spinning to determine if the tire distorts under load, versus a spin balance that only measures a no load condition.

I had a set of BFGs put on that acted just like your description. No problem before the tires went on. They balanced the tires twice with no help. The third time in they put the tires on the road force machine and 3 of the 4 failed even though they spin balanced. 3 replacement tires later and no more problem.

No charge to me since I bought the tires there, but in your case you may need to pay extra $ for the road force balance.

Ummm, sounds like the same driveline vibration the 03-04s have...

It IS a Cummins thing... I believe I have seen it termed "interference vibration resonations"... basically you have two things vibrating, that by themselves are not noticeable but together create a resonation point.

If it is doing it at new, run away... it's not worth taking the chance. The closest thing to a fix is installing the DT lockout hubs.

I had a vibe starting at around 64mph and stopping after 70mph. It was kinda annoying and knew it was typical as I've read many others having the problem. Funny thing is, after I did my trans along with new converter and flexplate, the problem dissappeared completely. Don't know why, and don't really care as long as it stays gone...
