I've got an '03 HO 6-speed 4WD, EXT cab, Short bed. No mods, just stock. Just turned over to 30,000 miles. At about 28,000 I started noticing a vibration when slowing down at around 15mph. Doesn't seem to matter whether the brake or clutch is applied. Saw on here where some folks had fixed this problem with u-joints.
Tonight the truck started vibrating / shaking when I'm accelerating at around 55 mph. Doesn't matter if it's in 5th or 6th gear when I get close to 55. If I let off the throttle, or hit the clutch, the vibration stops, so I don't think it's a problem with alignment or wheel balance. The harder I accelerate at around this speed, the worse the vibration. The vibration seems to get less severe around 70 mph, but I wasn't on a road straight enough to get any over that to see if it goes away.
Could these two problems be related or are they two separate issues? On the u-joint deal, which u-joints are replaced?
And one other question. Do any of the TDR members in Kentucky know if there's a decent dealer for service on the diesels? I've heard more than one horror story about dealers that don't know anything about our favorite trucks.
