Marco,

Could you go into more detail on the timing issue? Were you saying that the advanced timing of the EZ is fixed or not?

Thanks

Vaughn,
I resently tried the PE-EZ out, and noticed a significant increase in engine noise at normal cruise, and reduced noise at heavy acceleration. Also noticed HUGE increase in noise if the engine is really cold, starting from 15degF. But I have other problems with my PE-EZ currently. I need to get in touch with someone at the factory about the problem, but the info in the package doesn't have a number or address. The unit has quit fueling. This happened suddenly one morning as I left the house. I cranked up at 18degF - not plugged up - and got 1/2 mile from the house when the check gauges light came on and I looked down to see the oil pressure falling fast. Before I could shut the engine down, the pressure came right back up to normal. I checked everything I could think of for a problem, found nothing. But I noticed immediately that the PE-EZ was not fueling. I had the box on max setting from the start. The boost will get to 22psi still, but no extra power or egt's. I unplugged the unit and the truck runs exactly the same. If anyone has this box and has experienced the same thing, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff Alford

I haven't had any problems with the EZ. But heres the phone number to Edge.

(801)476-3343 try to speak to Brett or Taylor.

I don't know what their holiday business hours are like. If you can't get a hold of them before this Friday email me and I'll see what I can do for you.

Jeff, if the "clip" is removed from under the front plate, the EZ does not add fuel or alter the timing. Maybe somehow the clip fell off of your EZ. Just a guess.

Sorry for not posting my dyno results. But after seeing a few guys with problems I thought I better bring us up to speed.

Dyno results:

260HP and 650ft/lb 1800 RPM
280HP and 750ft/lb drag down test on the mustang.

I am seeing worse gas milage lately, but its been cold and im sure we are running mixed fuel.

I have got a really bad stumble while pulling the trailer, misses very bad, jumps forward and back hard unless im in it. Could this be the carrier bearing on the extended drive line?

Ok fellas,
To me it sounds like the EZ has a bit of a timing issue when pulling a heavy load. I cannot say much, because I havent tried it. The guys that have it,and run empty, seem pretty impressed. But I've noticed some guys pulling with it, are having that power surge. I'm kinda torn between these boxes. I need it for pulling heavy loads. The VA may not have the power of the EZ,but it's well proven.
Confused!

BZIN/UL,
The first thing I checked was the clip, thinking that might have a problem, or that I might find a blown fuse in the box. No such luck. I have since tried the unit on all three jumper settings with the same results. My check engine light has not come on yet, so I am hoping that whatever happened is limited to the box itself. I have only had the unit installed for a couple of weeks, to try it out with the camper, but never got a chance to try it with the camper. I wasn't very impressed with the power increase from the unit so far. I don't have the injectors, but I put the boost elbow and Map sensor connector on first to try it out. That did make a small difference in acceleration, 1. 3 seconds reduction in the 40 to 60 mph 4th gear test outlined in TSB 18-21-99 from 6. 6 sec. stock to 5. 3 sec. I did not get an opportunity to check the EZ connected times, but it would be an equivalent or better increase I am sure. I guessed a 15-20% increase in power overall. I will try to contact the factory this week. Thanks for the phone number, KatDiesel.
Thanks,
Jeff Alford

Marco,
Is it possible that the timing advance in certain RPM and boost ranges is too far for fuel and loading conditions at particular air temps (density). Would this cause the engine to misfire? With compressor type alchohol engines (spark type), the air density is important in developing the fuel/air mix and timing curves due to extended burn time of fuel and oxygen present in the chamber. I have noticed small differences in performance on my truck in varying barometric pressure and moisture conditions. We used water injection to compensate for fluctuations in density at the drag track. Could water injection do the same for diesels when towing?
Just a thought.
