This obviously is a new DHRA record ET.

Seems like all the record setting Cummins race trucks are born in the South for some reason.

Holy crap thats fast. What did he break does anyone know? What do ya think he would have turned if he didn't break?

Congratulations Darren (Man it seems like I have typed this a couple of times this weekend) I don't think he is on here, but someone can give him the message.

Jeff Garmon and Darren felt a few rods bent under load and the general consensus was it would have been a 10. 1X pass as he had the same 1/8th mile ET Jeff had when he ran 9. 97 last year in Houston in his MODIFIED white Dodge! Not too shabby for 5500#'s, #2 only and 4wd!

While Darren was towed back he drove on the trailer under his own power.

BTW- He had no less than a 10 MPH headwind if not 15 MPH on that pass and he ran a 10. 50 in 20-25 MPH headwinds (see the flags) that morning.

You're right. Darren proves to the world how fast he can make 1/4 mile passes not how fast he can run his mouth on the 'net. Since he can't make money on here nor lower his ET he really has nothing to gain by sitting in front of a computer. He really does like the support he gets from the cheering stands so come see him make a pass sometime! You won't meet a more down to earth guy than Darren.

What I really like about Darren compared to some internet queens is he doesn't rest on his laurels from one event to the next or from one season to the next. Darren knows he has the ability and knowledge to be at the forefront of Cummins Pro Street drag racing and he is willing to give 110% from one race to the next even if that means blowing a motor. In return his efforts have treated him right with consistent and sometimes dramatic gains nearly event after event.

Then again some of the internet queens couldn't build their own motor if they tried let alone figure out how the injection pump works w/o asking someone in the know.

Just my . 02.

Watch out for this guy in Houston!

Talked to Jeff this morning, and he said the motor "ate" itself after the rods bent. On the video Andy has on here, you can see when the white smoke started, the engine commenced to eat. Why? To high of compression and 105 lbs of boost. That will be fixed before Houston. Believe it or not, that truck is capable of a 9 sec run.

. . Preston. .

Recognize the little blue truck in the background on the bottom pic Preston?

Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to talk with Jeff or Darren, but I did get to see the runs and these trucks are amazing! Congrats to Darren! It won't be surprising to see his truck hit the 9's in the future.

Hey Eric,

I spoke with Neal when I first got there,,, I don't think I've seen you since a few years ago down in GA. Not sure if I would have reconized you now or not. Sorry I missed ya. I hope to start getting to a few more events next year. This year was filled with changes at work and a new granbaby and the list goes on and on,,

Hope to catch ya next time.

The numbers:

1. 50 60ft

4. 18 330

6. 48 @ 106 1/8

8. 51 1000ft

10. 32 @ 120. 12 1/4

Darrens 1000ft on his 10. 40 pass was 8. 66. If you just subtract the difference, had he not broke, that would have been a 10. 17 pass at about 131mph.

Nice job for sure... @ 5600 lbs race weight. And it'll be back together and at the finals in Houston.

What about the TDR memebers out west?

Fletcher 10. 11

Maddog 10. 59

I believe that the statement was, "DHRA" record. The left side of the country has a "distaste" for the DHRA, so they have their own orginization. Bill is tops in his. NHRADARAPAPAPO. I think that's right. :-{}

Actually Preston one of our biggest member track programs is located on the left side of the country :D It was awesome being out there and seeing the passion for DHRA racing that they have!
