Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting new toy

I have a HandyCam camera that we record our pulls onto DVDr's. I can put these DVDrs into my laptop and play them on the Media Player, but I cannot for the life of me get the durn footage onto my computer. I think I've got the Youtube thing figured out if I can just get the footage I have onto the computer.

What program do I need on my laptop to make this easy? I am frustrated that millions of people can figure out how to put garbage on Youtube, but I can't get my videos on there to share with friends that can't make the pulls.

Thanks for the help guys.

Go to "My Computer"; click on the drive the DVD is in and hit "Explore", then you should be able to right right click on the video file and "copy" the video file to the desk top or a selected folder.

Usually the video file will be shown as a media type such as "wmf" or "avi"; etc.

Good Luck.

Thats why I was asking what format it is. since it's a dvd camcorder(I never owned that style)I was wondering if it saved it in a dvd style format not your typical mpg, avi, wm,f etc. If that is the case he would not be able to upload them to youtube without converting first.

It comes up as a Video_TS file. When I click on it, it shows a couple of . BUP files, a couple . IFO files and a couple VLC media files(. vob).

I did not have any success right clicking and "save as". I ended up with a partial copy of the recording. I'm going to try again.

I also went to Sony's webcite like advised above and they have no programs available for it... ...

OK thats what i thought it is writing it in regular dvd format. You will need to install sony's download software that came with the camcorder and down load the dvd's into your computer using the usb cable or firewire. depending on how your camera is set up. This should allow you to save it as a mpg or avi file which is uploadable to you tube

Picking a random dvd handycam it loks like you should have a program called picture motion browser and will do the transfer with a usb cable...

Page 95 of this manual http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRDVD650.pdf your model maybe a little different but basically the same as my hard drive handycam is basically the same deal as well

My wife says this camera will not connect to the computer. It is a Handycam DCR-DVD92 NTSC.

I'll do a little more looking in the morning.

Michael

Your wife is correct. That model does not interfcae with a computer

You can google vob to mpeg or vob to mpg for free software to convert. If you have the money get a new (non hi def) harddrive camcorder they down load real quick in the proper format. depending on youir computer conversions can take a long time. sony hi def camcorders have to convert the file to avi so for you tube stuff you can save time and effort by using a non hi def camcorder
