I got a VIN for my truck and I was wondering where I could get it decoded. Dave Fritz' website doesn't include 2003s yet and while some of the digits match the numbers for 2002-down, some do not.

At least it matches where it says it's coming from Mexico, is a 1 ton, and GVWR is 9000-10000.

My VIN is

3D7LA38C23G802534

I ordered Feb. 17th, estimated ship date is March 6th.

Thanks,

Vaughn

EDIT: Corrected digit on VIN

Thanks Dean! Yes the "9" is a "G" (salesman's writing hard to read) so it is Saltillo. Cool. It's coming from the same plant my current truck came from :)

Plus it's nice to see the numbers match what I ordered.

Vaughn,

The information came from the service manual. I really like my truck and it came from the same plant. They did a great job:) .

is vehicle build sequence the order they come out of the factory??? my last 6 digits are 796901. . estimated ship date is 3/3/03.

dmurdock, it is probably the sequence the VINs are assigned, since they are created a while before it's actually built. But it's basically like a serial number I guess.

Your VIN is 5633 units ahead of mine. I wonder if the sequence number applies to all trucks (Ram, Dakota, Vans) or just Rams? Or maybe all Dodges? It would be interesting to know.

I don't really know for fact, but DC told me that all 3500s are built in Mexico. I don't know about the 2500s.

Dont know my ship date, but my order went in on 2/20 for a QC 2500 HO, being built in Mx. with a tentative build date during the third week of March. The last six #'s in my VIN are 804591. The numbering is interesting from the truck ordered on the 17th with a difference of 2057.

Since DODGE dropped the

vans (being replaced by the Diesel SPRINTER) wonder if the serials are Dodge or MB's. Since they are built over there and imported with the Dodge badging w/MB's diesel eng. Nice looking vans (one is on display at the local dealer - Zangara). Will only let it be looked at - no pricing avail so they want to keep it "new" (read LOW MILES). Looks like it will make a nice van conversion, high roof model, but wonder if the eng is strong enuff for a RV type build. Specs are avail on the Dodge truck build site - just no pricing yet. They may be "teasing" interested persons until they price it - marketing!!!
