OK, so I spent a little time on the Dodge website looking at the currently in stock vehicles for a local dealership. Particularly, I was looking at window stickers to see if I could figure out what VIN numbers will end up being 610 vs 600 TQ so I could make an educated guess as to what mine will be when it gets here.

So the non-comprehensive (one dealership) data I found shows:

3 trucks in stock with 610TQ - 718282, 724753, 730821

10+ in stock with 600 TQ - 703938 to 718426

1 in stock with NO MENTION of TQ on window sticker - 724754

The number to the right is the last 6 digits of the VIN. Interestingly, the highest 600 VIN was higher than the lowest 610 VIN, but not by much, and the 718282/610 was a 2500 whereas the later 718426/600 was a 3500. But, given this data, I would estimate that the turnover happened somewhere around the 719000 mark. Anyone who has a truck on order with a VIN of 720000 or higher should be getting a 610.

So... it looks like I'll be getting a 600. I still haven't decided if I will keep the truck (wanted heated seats which still aren't available on Laramie J), but I sure wouldn't mind having the 610. It's not really a matter of power to me, but the fact that it's a new engine program... which I'm hoping will include whatever code optimizations they have been able to come up with base on their learning from the 600's and their poor MPG. I guess like everything else, time will tell...

Good shot at detective work jeepdude.

Maybe a more accurate changeover point would be based on engine S/N. Higher VIN could have a slightly older engine due to supply chain not necessarily perfect FIFO when it comes to matching up engines and trucks.

One of them 610 VINS you mentioned is mine. Supposed to show up in Benicia via UP on 9/30. Hope it doesn't take long from there. :{

Hope you get yours soon. You've been waiting awhile.

Very true... but that would require me actually GOING to the dealership and looking at each truck in person... and I'm just too lazy for that. ;)
