Here I am

"Visitor Message" vs. "PM" ...?

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

How do I setup and show my signature on posts?

How do I upload a picture to the forums?

I have not been too active lately on TDR and it seems there have been subtle changes.

What is the difference between "Visitor Message" vs. "PM" ... ? And why did I not get an e-mail notification that a "Visitor Message" had been sent to me? I used received them for PM's!

I posted in a thread by a fellow member asking for assistance that was time related. It was a real easy form of help (temporarily storing a trailer during a visit) But he "VM'd" me and I never received notification in my e-mail. WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED????

What is this "VM" vs "PM"?

... and where do I find "Visitor Messages?" It does not show up in my PM inbox. I am a little p!ssed that I missed this time critical message.

I really feel that the other member may have thought that that I was blowing him off.

What gives!?!?!?

Visitor messages are shown on your profile page for all the world to see - they are there for people to comment on your profile ie profile picture, hobbies, truck profile, etc. They aren't meant for people to be sending you messages. Anyone who goes to your profile page (by clicking on your username and going to "view public profile" will see those messages. You can turn off the visitor messages on your profile page if you want so that people can't leave messages there by going to your user control panel and then click on edit options on the left and scroll down and you'll see the check box that you can clear to disable the visitor messaging system.

Also, if you respond on your profile page it only posts there - it doesn't go back to that user either. It's kind of like your own little forum that appears on your profile page.

Thanks for answering this... . so, I take it then that messages left via VM do not trigger and send out an e-mail notification... . or do I have to go somewhere and check a box selecting that I choose to have the option that any VM be sent to me?

I'm not aware of a way to get notifications for visitor messages. Perhaps that's something they've added in 4. 0 which I'm monitoring for stability before we move to it.
