True or False...

How does it work ... Rockwell Automation

i just went to a car show this weekend checking out some new things to hit the market. one that caught my eye besides the ford GT and the Mclaren cars is the volkswagen touareg. for '05 it will come with an optional V10 twin turbo diesel that will put out 310 HP and 553 Ft-Lbs of torque!! i would buy one for my wife if i could afford it. Oo. :D :D

We just got an 05 Touareg for my wife. Hers is a V8 (the Audi 4. 2 that is used in the A8).

It is a rocket! It drives like a sports car and is perfect size for her.

The dealer here in Alaska has only received one diesel and doesn't know when they will be able to get more!!

The diesel is approx $14,000 higher!!!!

I hope it turns out to be a good vehicle.

I looked at them a while back. I liked it, but it was way too much $$$ for me right now, even getting a "suppliers discount".

I subscribe to 20+ auto/truck related magazines, and I been following the Toureg diesel for a long time. Since diesels are so popular in Europe, only a few of those produced are sent here. And unfortunately, if you didn't order one last year...

Looks like a pretty killer combo. I think the Toureg is one of the nicest vehicles out there. Just out of my price range and not quite what I need.

I just bought a Jetta TDI last month and they had a Toureg TDI on the floor. I think it was around $65,000. I opened the hood and you couldn't see any of the motor. It would be a nightmare to work on.

I bought my wife an Infiniti FX35 with all the options a few months ago, and one of the other vehicles we looked at was the Touareg. While it was very nice, the V8 was $8000 more and the TDI $20000 more. Could not justify the additional dollars. I have since heard on some of the other forums I browse that the Touareg is having more than its share of reliablity problems. Not to say the Infiniti is perfect. It had a Navigation problem and a rattle in the dash. Both were fixed no questions asked.

Wife loves the Infiniti and while it's not a Cummins, it is nice.

Yes I can confirm it. Tons of broken turboes in STOCK form... Buddy of mine is on it's third turbo. The V10 Diesel is a major PITA to work on...

In all not as good as it seemed when the Touareg first came out.

Marco

P. S. Do you like the looks of that thing???

How are you liking it? I am about to jump into a job where I will be doing a ton of driving, and 18mpg just isn't going to cut it, so I am thinking about one of these.

Love the car. I got 44mpg on the fourth tank of diesel! Also went 650 miles on that tank. This is the best "car" I've ever owned.

'Drew: Gimme a PM or email me if you need TDI info. I'm stuffed full of it... Get it quick as I'm getting rid of my TDI info and making room for more Cummins stuff! :-laf

Matt - I miss my TDI

If you spend that kind of money, you might as well kick in a little more and get the Porsche Cayenne... now that is one fast SUV! I hear that you can buy them used in the U. S. , ship it to Europe and make a tidy profit, because Porsche didn't allot enough for Europe and they are in high demand. Only complaint I've heard is some front end probs, tires wearing out fast.
