The other day on Dad's 01, the check gauges light came on while driving, and the voltmeter read nothing, but there were and are no symptoms of it not charging. When he shut it off and restarted, it came back and read normal. Where is a good spot to look for a problem? Thanks

Pull the cables off each battery and check them for normal voltage (about 14V). One could have shorted, then opened up.

Also check the ground point connections from the batts, engine and any other ground you see.
