The PO of my truck had a external voltage regulator installed. Bypassing the ECM and resulting in a constant check engine light. I'd like to get rid of the light without pulling the bulb. Is there any way?

Is my only option to back up and troubleshoot the original system?

I hope I didn't just answer my own question:{

The only way to turn off the bulb that I am aware of is to replace the $2-300 PCM. It is much more cost effective and reliable to keep the external volt regulator. I had the VR go out in a 93, in central KS at about midnight. I'd light up I70 like the daytime, then I couldnt hardly see 10ft in front of the truck- volt gauge jumped from 8 to pegged, no warning. I had it redone at an electrical shop in MO for ~$30, IIRC. That's just part of owning a 15-20 year old pickup.
