I'm slowly planning out how I'm going to delete the brain box on my 93 W250. One of the things the PCM does is to serve as the voltage regulator. From what I've read here, the old Mopar external regulators don't hold up well on a Cummins B engine. Is there some sort of external regulator for tractors or heavy equipment that could be used to bypass the computer on our trucks?

The oem regulators held up fine but I think the part# went belly up

The original Dodge regulator weren't that great. I always carried a spare regulator in what ever type of Dodge I happened to be driving at the time.

Right now I would buy a used 20 year old Dodge regulator out of a junkyard before buying a new after market one.

Agreed.

My BWD replacement regulator charged at 14.8v so I replaced it with a US made Mopar Performance P4529794 unit from the dealer.

14.2 consistent and I hear its temperature compensated.

On the old school gassers a often used replacement was voltage regulator for a volvo was better made but was identical to the mopar one also there is some rebuilders of alternators that make them a 1 wire st up like the gm 1 wire set ups , id go that way .
