How many people out there has had a failure of a VP-44 after installing a RASP or FASS on a new pump? At what mileage? What are some of the mileages people are getting out of there VP-44 with a RASP or FASS?Thanks

FASS or RASP

The issue with mileage with the RASP or FASS isnt really the concern with people that have just spent the big money to replace a VP44, In some cases yes you MIGHT see increase with the FASS due to the air that is pulled out of the fuel before delivery to the VP. the RASP on the other hand is also reliable BUT doesnt remove air before it gets to the VP, To sum it all up its about life expectancy of the VP44 rather than milage. We have installed 3 FASS systems and only one truck a 2002 with an auto actually saw a milage increase of 1. 3, not so much to really advertise about, but the increase of reliability to the owner is the key!!! hope this helps :D ..... If you calculate a mileage gain and compare the $ from +1 mpg to the $ from one VP44 AND RASP or FASS you are going to have to drive to the moon and back to recoupe the cost.

However driving to the moon and back is better than sitting on the side of the road with a dead VP44 (typically at night in the rain or snow).

Damont... . I'm reading your post to ask how many miles are people getting out of their VP IF they failed while running FASS or RASP..... not fuel mileage??

Anyway, my VP lasted 26K miles with RASP giving me 15-19 psi the whole time. IMO, it was just a random, $$hitty pump, and not related to the RASP.

Thanks, I guess I need to clarify my post. If someone who has installed a FASS or RASP at what point did the VP-44 installed new fail and how many miles did you get out of your pump before it died?

My vp went out after I put on a rasp but it was already going out and needed to be replaced before the install. I chose to put the rasp on first before I replaced the vp. It has been 30k since the vp replacement witht eh rasp and still going fine. My first two vp's both lasted right about 70k before the rasp. Time will tell on the third one. Aside from poor pressure heat seems to be a vp killer as well.
