Hey all-

a buddy of mine just lost his vp-44 today, and is looking for a new one, or rebuilt. I live in Jersey and go to school in Mass so anywhere in between works, or somewhere to order from. Where have you guys found the best prices?

His truck is a 2001 AT

Thanks

Tim

Mine is bad on my 1999 with 63,000 wonderful miles . This is the second pump to go bad . Dodge bought the first one under warranty. The second one will cost me $1450. 00 for a remanufactured Bocsh pump. HOW did you fined out yours was bad? What where the syptoms and how do you know its the pump?

TT, you might want to shop around some more, you can get a much better price on a stock reman unit.

Mine died when shifting into reverse, several times. I checked with my trans installer and he mentioned that his died going into any gear when he found the code. I re-checked the codes and verified the presence of 0216. I have had the infamous throttle "miss/dead spot" and my power has been low for quite some time now. The code recently appeared after the engine started intermittently dying going into reverse.

fwiw,

Bill

I thought the VP44 was covered on the Cummins warranty, regardless of the dealer warranty, for 100,000 if I'm not mistaken. I should imagine its worth looking into.

I got a lift pump yesterday under warranty and asked them about the VP44 because I have a feeling it is next to go and they said it would be free as long as the motor has less than 100k on it.

My dealership warranty is up at 85,000.

Hey Everyone, thanks for the replies, you've been more than helpful. Bill, i sent you an e-mail, thanks to everyone.

Some of us have tapped into the VP44 wire which adds lots of Oo. Oo. but creates :{ :{ for the warranty... .

Oh yeah, I'll be voiding that part of the warranty soon, but, his sig says the truck is stock, so if I was correct about the Cummins factory warranty then he should be covered.

Was I correct, or did I misunderstand?

I was thinking the Factory 100K warranty on the motor is only good for 60 months from first sale date... . you can always call your local dodge dealer and give themt he VIN and they will tell you what you have remaining.
