Well I had enough... ... ..... !!!!!

My 02 Q-cab 4x4 HO 6spd is gone..... At 80641 miles I lost another battle with the dreaded P0216 code.

Stock truck except for KN filter Banks monster pipe from Turbo back and gages

3 VP-44's is my limit... . the 1st at 3,610mi. 2nd at 36,805 and 3rd at 80641. I traded her in on a 04. 5 Dually Q-cab 6sp Laramie.

Just to let ya'all know I had the original lift pump and it still made 14psi at idle 12 cruise and 9. 5 wot..... Electrical fuel psi gage back up by a direct reading at the filter output... . very sad I hope Bosch is proud of the piece of junk VP-44 money pit. . the service guys were great at my dealership never once did they hassle me about the code and were very honest at the end and flat out said that this injector pump was garbage... ... ... WOW  even Dodge tech's and service adviser now agree there is an issue ... ... ... ... . I hope you hear this Dodge, Bosch and Cummins. .

If I have any issues with this truck thats it ... .....

See ya on the road

I've noticed that, some have to replace it like oil changes others go and go and go. Talked to someone recently who had 230k on his vp-44 (he did add lubricant at every fillup), I've got 100k on mine and narry a hickup. Dont understand why some wont last  Hope you like your common rail, come back and say hi to us 44ers once and awhile.

I too have one of the good ones. 68K at almost 500 HP with a factory lift pump moved to the tank. Pull the FP guage to 2 psi numerous times per day and she is still going strong..... Go figure. :)

There are trucks out there that have a tendancy to eat them. There is a member here in Colorado who is on his fourth of fifth one in 80k (I think, I know he's under 100k).

I wonder if there is an error in the engine number. I know you have to order the right keyway for each pump/engine combination. If the wrong keyway is used, wouldn't that cause some problems?
