my buddy has a 98' 24v. its been misfireing on him recently. mostly under load around 1800rpms or so. he took it to a good dodge cummins mechanic we both know, and he hooked it up to the computer and it read 2 code both for the injector pump. the cleared the codes and told him to drive it for a week and then bring it back and he'd check it again, or sooner if it started to get bad again.

any yall had this happen before??? trucks got a knew lift pump too.

I had something similar happen and replaced the lift pump. I want to go in that direction, but, with you saying that your friend had already changed the pump I would do two things first. One---check the fuel lines around the lift pump, two---hook up to a fuel pressure guage to make sure the pump is getting 10-15 p. s. i under idle and under load at 1800 rpm.

the lift pump has been tested and checks out good. im not sure what the codes were. As of today tho, he said its only doing it at idle, and is running really bad. its only at idle tho. it will be at about 900rpms and start 'bumping' sounding and it drops to 850 then back to 900 with each 'bump' or missfire. he took it back to the shop and the codes havnt come back yet.

if his lift pump was out, and his vp44 had to pull fuel from the tank for any amount of time could that have worn it enough to cause it to start craping out like it seams to be doing now?
