just had my VP44 quit on me and im pondering if i want to risk it and go with an HRVP or if i should stick with the stock SO and get some sticks. the risk of surgeing is whats scarein me. i will be towein a 5th wheel and i have herd that HR's are not for toweing. any input?

I had my sticks put in the same time as my new vp and I went with the standard b/c my installer said he saw the dyno gain was not very impressive with the HR pumps on "modded" trucks. He recommended to put my money towards a smarty or other. He also noted that the longevity of the HR's is not any more than a standard so that made my decision. Hope this helps a little. :)

If you tow... don't get the HRVP because you are right ... . they aren't for the towing crowd. I would get the stock pump & if you don't already have a fuel system, that would be a good idea before burning up another VP. The sticks are a awesome upgrade, but be careful not to go too big for a towing truck. The stock hx35 [if thats what you have] is pretty comfortable with 80-100hp sticks. You will still have to keep an eye on the pyro with them though. Do you have any other upgrades?

newbie

ya i have 5" exhaust with stacks, i only have an hy turbo and waaasss lookin at a turbo upgrade but that is getting put on the back burner now, i have an edge juice with attitude, its winter now tho so gonna take it easy and save for my turbo , autometer guages as well, thanks for the help i went and bought a stock vp today, it is supposed to be the latest and greatest, i hope it lasts, do any of you guys know what kind of hp the stock pumps are good for? obviously they have to run out of flow eventually but not too sure when that is. im new so im still workin on gettin the setup broadcasted.

Put a stocker and a smarty on there for the same price. I sell bothe the standard and HRVP44s and they aren't for everyone. Also, the HRVP's can have a bit of an issue with a lope, and a Smarty is the only thing that will fix it if it does.

The HRVP has its place but as mentioned it is not for everyone. We use it a lot for guys looking for a 500 HP truck without tapping the pump wire. It is also a great pump for the ETC guys when they become fuel limited. As for the high HP crowd, if they already have BIG injectors going to the HRVP doesn't yeild a gain.

The trick is to get a setup that fits with what you want from your truck. If you have any questions feel free to email or call and we can discuss different pros and cons of each pump.
