POS to begin with..... Just had mine replaced @ 26000 miles, I sense a FASS or somethin comin on, a P-pump conversion would be ideal.
 
They're really NOT a POS - just made for much better quality fuels than commonly available in this country - they seem to do much better in Europe and the many European cars that use them there in various comfigurations - far better governmental fuel quality control there than here - gotta get SOMETHING for the $6 a gallon fuel!
 
The VE pump in many ways is simply a crude version of a VP-44 - operates on much the same mechanical principle, just lacks the "smart" computer brain that allows instant fuel timing and volume adjustment as engine demand changes with load and speed... In terms of flexibility and precise engine control, the VE or P7100's are a step backwards in time - EXTREMELY costly to swap over to, and leave you with an engine that's probably worthless for emissions testing or resale other than off-road use...
