has anyone been turned down for warranty work for using a Blue chip pump cover? I mean has any pumps gone south for using a pump cover and the local 5 star and/or the Manufacture looked into it and noticed the screw hole that the pump cover makes and VOIDED there warranty.

I was told before the 5 star can replace the pump they need to send the pump to the Factory and they look at it, before they release other pump to the dealership for replacement. Has anyone experience this????

thank you.

All I can say is you are your own warranty station at this point!! I asked the same question months ago and the 3rd degree burn from the flames I got are just now healing. :D :D

From what I have heard and read, yes the dealer does have to have someone look at the pump before they can warranty a bad VP44. My understanding is they are getting savvy enough now to look for marks on the face that would come from a non stock pump cover. In the past they just looked for cuts or marks on the wires that ran into the VP44 where a splice or solder joint might have been.

I had one of the pin prick style connectors on my wire and they did not find anything. EXCEPT the computer code that voided the warrenty. I ended up replacing the pump. I now run the blue chip cover because I feel I have the connection out of the weather in a sealed area. You have to pay to play sometimes. Sam :)

Well, here is the next mystery warranty question. If you bought the extended warranty, and they (stealers) in their infinite wisdom decide to void it, do you get your money back, or the balance of what you paid after being pro-rated?

I wouldn't hold my breath. In fact you may have better luck waiting for hell to freeze over.

FWIW...

I spoke with a guy that works at the DCX warrenty claim center. He told me that they look for everything from slices to pin pricks (including the ones "covered" with clear silicone) on the pump wire. When they deny warrenty to the dealers, it is usually too late for the dealer as they have already replaced the pump. Kind of breaks my heart :-laf But then I do wonder if they charge $45 for filters to recover their losses on warrenty rejections from the factory...

btw, the most common item that they receive in the warrenty center is coked turbos.
