the bottom line should have the build date, but nothing looks like a date?

Trying to see if pump was original - replaced last weekend.

I see 13154 ?

truck was build in jan 00... . possible warranty or replacement? Looks like oem bosch and not reman.
I think I read somewhere (just can't remember where) that VP44's re-manufactured to Bosch specifications are supposed to have the original date code marked over on the data plate and the rebuild date added. I have a spare re-manufactured VP44 on hand and besides the black paint job (which seems to be a dead giveaway), the data plate has most definitely been altered to include new revision codes and the rebuild date, so it's clear it's not original. I've seen re-manufactured VP44's both painted and unpainted.

If you're not the original owner of the truck and aren't sure of the history, maybe it was a brand new VP44 replaced under warranty, or maybe what you think is the date isn't?

Best regards,

John L.

Just trying to understand and figure out some history. Was the one I took off the original? It was unpainted, all data stamps were the same, etc.

I know some 98-99 had bad deburred parts which caused early failures. Did I have one of them? My motor was built late 99 or earlier because truck was built jan 00.

I will check for a steped case for the dowel pin soon when I add the tab. I do have a good Brizilian block.
