Archived VP44 dead???

I have a 2001 3500 5spd with an edge controller. I was driving my truck down the freeway when it seemed like it ran out of fuel. I checked the lift pump and sure enough, no fuel. I just installed a FASS system and checked for fuel. I get fuel out of all of the injector lines I check but the truck won't start. When checking codes with the key method, I got P1693. I plugged in my code scanner and got two codes, P1689 twice. I cleared the codes, unplugged the edge box and it still won't start and now I am not getting any codes. Can anyone help with this????

P1689 - Indicates a Data link failure between ECM and fuel injection pump. Low power, engine dereated or engine stops.



POSSIBLE CAUSES:



Fuel Inj pump Gnd ckt open or high resistance

Fuel pump ctrl mod harness observable defect

Datalink (+) circuit open

Datalink (+) circuit short to ground

Datalink (-) circuit open

Datalink (-) circuit short to ground

Engine control module defective

I might have had the key on when I unplugged the Edge module. I have tried to start it a few times since and no new codes show up, but it doesn't start either.

3 Times New Roman I have been running around with the 1689 code for years, in hindsite I guess this is the (low power) that the engine has always put out! That the dollarshops couldn't figure out? The fedexed vp is a far better pump! I have been noticing that it will warmup the engine coolant on acceleration.
