VP44 dying...need good local repair shop in No. Calif.

I got a check engine light and a 0216 trouble code. From all I am reading, it looks like I've got a VP44 on it's way out and maybe a faulty lift pump.

I hate taking anything to the dealerships for repairs, but this is still under warranty and an otherwise expensive repair. The local Cummins shop agreed that it sounded like the VP44 is bad, but they can't honor the warranty.

Can anyone reccommend a good warranty repair facility in California near the San Jose / Hayward Bay Area??? I'm just looking for an honest opinion of a shop / dealer that will treat us right.

Thanks!

Hank

I can't help with a dealer recommendation, but strongly suggest you "de-bomb" your truck before you take it in for a warranty repair on the pump or the dealership will void your entire warranty.

With that said, my local dealer does very good work. The only engine work they have farmed out was on my 98. They gave the local Bosch shop a PO to pull the pump and check it. If it is under warranty, I would let the dealer do it.
