Looks like My Injection Pump Is failing and Ill need a new one. The Techs @ Cummins North west say the Remand pumps generally don't last as long as the new ones and Im thinking I might be better off getting an after market Pump. Any of you learned Diesel heads out there know of a good after market pump for an 02 HO?

Ouch! What happened , did you loose a lift pump, or some other reason. Just don't see to many '02 pumps going out without a fueling box causing pressure problems. I have a 02 and am just wondering.

I have an '02 stock, lift pump went at 4000 and VP at 4500 miles. So yes, they do go "belly-up" even on stock trucks.

Thanks Ill Call Piers And see what have. If I am going to have to replace the VP44 every 40k or so Ill look for a better pump.

The life span of a VP44 is hard to calculate I have 115k on mine with the wire being taped at about 15k with several boxes and a unknown dead lift pump for at least 6k yet the mighty pump keeps pumping. Some have not had very good luck some have, it is not easy to predict but keeping an eye on fuel psi is defenately a good idea.

Knocking on wood as I type this - 150,000 on mine. Virgin pump wire, VA for @120,000. I don't think one can assume that 40,000 is as far as they will go, especially if lift pump pressures are watched. Take the warrantee pump, and save your money for when your warrentee has expired.

JFinke,

do you run with your comp box off for daily driving? My question is are you advancing your injection timing at all when driving most of the time. I am leary of a timing box on HO trucks. I have been seeing some failures of injection pumps, head gaskets and even #6 piston on a recent post. Just wondering if timing is too much on these trucks for daily driving/towing. They are definately different than ETC trucks. BTW, your life of that injection pump is awesome. I would love to get that from mine with a comp onboard (for play only of course;) )
