Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) VP44 has void sticker

i just got this truck a couple days ago. i was checking around under the hood this morning when noticed the injection pump has a yellow void sticker on it. I assume that means the warranty for the pump has been voided?

No. It's the way the truck was delivered. It's there to alert dealer tech's that you've been messing with your truck, and a means for them to deny warranty.

I believe he meant that it forms a sort of factory-installed security seal, and if it's torn or missing, it means the pump has probably been tampered with, and warranty can be voided...

Great!! I'm a dolt, I ripped the stupid thing off thinking it was put there because the previous owner had tapped the pump. Anyone know where I can get one.

If it wasn't for making mistakes, I probably wouldn't get ANYTHING done at all...

I would not worry about it. How can they prove it was there when "you" got the truck. They will look for tampering of the pump wire. The sticker could have come off when you pressured washed the engine compartment, right. Don't sweat it, enjoy your new truck.

I seem to remember something about not all the trucks having the same void stickers in the same places (ecm, vp plug), or some trucks didn't have them at all (for the 01's and up). I don't think the average tech would have a clue where there should be one. Just clean off the residue and fuhgedaboutit.

I could be wrong (again!) - but I sure con't see any "VOID" tape anywhere on the VP-44 on my truck, and I bought it new...

mine is a 2001. 5 and it had the sticker.

My '02 had VOID stickers on the VP and ECM.

My 01. 5 had the VOID sticker on it as well. Bought brand new, fiddled around down there when initially installing my EZ and it ripped half the sticker off. It says "VO". I asked my service guy and he said not to worry, they look for hard evidence, not some silly sticker.

It was DRIVESHAFT LOOPS that almost cost me a warranty claim... . :-laf :-laf :-laf

Actually, with all the U-joint problems these later trucks are having, driveshaft loops would be a GOOD thing!

I think he's pretty much scrod (that past tense for screwed) he said he sees evidence of the pump wire being tapped.



no biggy, a new VP is only a grand and a good way to become more aquainted with one's tool arsenal.
