Its really not that bad. You should have a barring tool to spin the flywheel and turn the engine over to make sure the key on the pump gear is at the 12:00 position. some use the alternator nut to rotate. get a mirror to look inside the gear case when doing this.

You need a puller to get the gear off of the pump shaft.

other than that, follow your shop manual and its pretty easy. Be careful not to bend or kink the fuel lines.

I don't have any specific instructions, but the repair manual worked for us.

Make sure you keep the whole day open. It can be done is a few hours but will probably take you longer the first time.

Not to bad

As long as you have some previous expierience it is not bad. Take your time and be meticulous. I used the alternator to turn the engine over no worries. A simple gear puller will work. Get the factory service manual if you don't have it. Do a search on here, I found some pics of the install that were very helpful. The 99 has a cheesey old bracket that holds the back of the pump up. Many break. Buy the updated bracket kit. A search should reveal my old post with the KIT #.

Good luck

Not too bad.

Just don't drop the washer down the front cover

I learned that the hard way.

Oh, and make sure that you put the rear bracket on :D you guessed it. Learned that one hard also.

I think the biggest thing is keep it all CLEAN. I took mine to the car wash first and used up about $5 making sure it was as clean as i could get it.

Good luck,

Joe

Nobody has mentioned the keyway, I remember something about it, I think the key is pump specific? I work on cars this was an easy install, not many bolts, pretty good access, if you are mechanically inclined at all it shouldnt be too difficult. Just remember shops double the labor rate when people "try to fix it themselves"

key

Yes the key is critical. They are numbered to that specific pump, that is how they calibrate the pumps. Also the key has an arrow on it that has to be pointed towards the pump. Hope this helps.
