Vp44 pump went out

This is my first diesel truck and recently I have noticed a reduction in hp and sputtering while driving. I had it diagnosed and the cause is the vp44 pump. I would like to change it out myself to save some money but I would like to know what people would recommend for a new pump. I also plan in the future to upgrade the turbo, fuel injectors, air intake etc. Does anyone have any suggestions?
