Doug:

Don't know about the Blue Chip.

Looked into the pump wire issue when I bought the Pulse. Yes, if your plunger has worn into a smaller excursion -- which may involve marking on the plunger and/or the walls/seat -- you run a risk of fracture or peeling. Yes, exceeding software parameters for the pump involves extra wear and stress. It also involves extra wear and stress for the engine, as you're running more fuel through it and it's working harder. "Want a million miles, don't hook up the pump wire," is what I was told.

However, the VP44 on the ETH is less susceptible to reliability issues with the pump wire hooked up, because it is designed for performance parameters that more closely approximates Pulse/Comp input than the ETC pumps are. The plunger is supposed to be stronger -- again, from what I was told.

BigBlue:

You reversed the wires and got "Comp pump wire" performance *without* the Comp pump wire attached? Either of those two wires smell like wool? And colored Indonesian blue?

I know which website you copied that from and that BigBlu guy does not appear to be the sharpest tack in the box. I assume he still has "what ever it takes to run 11's" in his sig??

The VP44 on the ETH is different. How different I could not say and from seeing ETH pumps die like the ETC pumps I wouldn't say they were more reliable. The manual says it "appears similar" to other pumps but there are "internal differences".
