How much is too much fuel pressure on this pump?

I think I seen 28lbs is where things could start to happen. . ie internal seals...

Something happened to my pusher pump and it is running at a higher speed than it ever has. I can see 29-30 psi at idle. Kinda scares me. . Waiting for a new pump to arrive. Floor It and I decided something got into the pump and did something to the spring pressure. I am gonna put a fuel filter between the tank and the pump to prevent this from happening again.
