Look's like I am in the market for a new vp-44 :{ and I have a few questions, are the one's the dealers install any better than the originals any improvements in the design at all or were can I buy after market and is this something an average Don can do at home,Thank' Don Barr

I highly recommend that you speak with Brady or Brett at Industrial Injection & Turbo Service regarding a replacement pump. This can be done with a decent set of tools and some patience. A barring tool from Cummins helps. Be really carefull with not dropping the key (rotate engine with the barring tool or by the alternator so that the key is at 12:00), and also be careful inserting the new key (on replacement pump) into the gear. You should be able to get it done in under 3 hours the first time you install a VP. Most of that time is due to the intimidation factor  It can be done in about an hour after the second or third time for example.

Good luck,

Bill
