I have just been toid that my bad VP44 is still a warranty item until 100,000 miles. I,m only at 63,000. Is this true? Then the beer is on me. Thanks I knew if I said FREE AND BEER together you would look. Turbo Terry

The warranty is 5 years or 100,000 which ever comes first. Or at least that is the way it was explained to me when I bought my truck.

Wow! Didn't know it was a 99. It had to be sold after todays date in 2000 to still be covered then. Like quoted above 5 years or 100k... . Whichever comes 1st. Great news for you!

If it is that close in time, depending upon the dealer you go to, they might or might not do the work. If you take it to them, find out up front if they will warranty it. If not, you will get nailed with a large repair bill, and be charged $1000 more than you should be for that VP44.

If they will not warranty it and you are forced to buy a pump, check out John at www.cumminsstuff.com. He should be able to get you a good price. Changing the VP44 only takes around 3 hrs. The only special tools you need is the engine barring tool and a t-bar puller with 8x1. 25 bolts (can be bought at any specialty tool shop)

If you look at my previous posts, you can find a link to instructions on changing the VP44 in detail.

I was under the impression that the Cummins warranty was for 100k only, no time limit. Maybe I misunderstood the dealership when I got my lift pump replaced. I'll be well past 100k when 5 years is up anyways, but, for those that won't its worth looking into. I may be wrong though, someone please corect me if I am.

Its called 5year/ 100,000 miles which ever comes first. My 5 years as already came and went. Dodge does the warranty on the whole truck,Cummins DOES NOT do warranty on Dodge trucks or their engines in Dodge trucks.
