1st attempt at post didnt seem to go...

I'm in the middle of replacing the VP44. I've removed the gear from the shaft, removed 4 mounting nuts, and 2 brack bolts. it's loose but wont slide out. Am i missing something here?

Also, what keeps the gear from falling down where it don't belong, cuz i'm leary about removing the gear puller at this point from the gear.

Thanks a bunch!

Make sure the gear is loose from the shaft. You should be able to move the gear freely in and out once it is popped loose. The gear will rest against the housing and cam gear. It can't go anywhere. Make sure the keyway is at 12:00 and does not fall out when removing the pump. This will ruin your day.

Yup gear moves freely, it's at 12:00, and I'm not sure how to keep the key from falling out. suggestions on that?

I guess I'll do a little prying cuz that baby otta just slide right out right?. ARG.

you have to have a steering wheel puller to push the pump shaft out of the gear. Make sure that the two torx bit bolts are out - they're up under the pump and really east to forget.

Blue Chip makes a nifty VP44 Gear Puller. I put super glue on my new key way because that is when it tends to fall in case on the install
