We have real neat feture on this board called "search" - it's one of the selections right up there at the top of this page. Many ignore it, or are unaware it exists - but IT is the beginning of all the wisdom of past threads, including THIS one! ;)

Do a search on "testing the VP-44, and get edumacated! ;) :D

Well I did that neat search thing and came up with more Info, than I can read in a year. I went home and did the head light test, and the light lit. I then did the hot wire test, still wont start. So unles anyone knows any more tricks I will order a new VP 44 tomarow. Thanks for any and all help .

My fuel pressure guage told me, my VP44 was failing on me this past Easter Sunday while pulling a 9000 lbs travel trailer on I-40 outside Holbrook, Az. With some luck, I made it to a Dealership, and had it replaced under warranty. My guage was reading 5 psi and below for approx. 10 miles, and it looks like the faillure did not hurt anything else. The fuel pressure guage is well worth the money and peace of mind. After the new fuel transfer pump was installed, my fuel pressure is up to 12-15 psi, almost all the time. Watching out for the next failure.

2001, 24 valve, Bright blue, short bed, 4x4, Topper, 3- guage piller post (EGT, transmission Temp, and TB) with fuel pressure guage on steering column. Double Deep transmission pan, and AFE Ram Air Cone, Brush Guard, Edge Power Chip.

UMMmmm - correct me if I'm wrong. but wasn't it your *lift pump* that failed and was replaced, and NOT the VP-44?

Thinking out loud, would the engine shut down if the crank speed sensor went down?

Not that this is what happened in this case but I know on the 12v if the engine speed sensor connector was messed up it could stall the engine temporary.

Since the ecm needs engine speed data from the pcm if therewas none would the vp144 run at all?
