Vss installation

Good morning everyone. I am trying to put in my new VSS but it doesn't want to fully insert into the transmission. I can feel that the square shaft has gone into the drive hole inside because I spun the sensor and it sunk farther into the Trans, but it won't go all the way. Is there some trick or do I just push harder? Thanks!

They must have given me the wrong one. The thing ended up chinking out and coming apart in the middle when I went to take if back off. I got a new one, and it slipped right in. I guess napa parts aren't what they once were.
