So I just installed this in my truck a week ago and it worked perfect for the first two tanks. I filled up this morning and my fuel gauge only registers half a tank. When I filled it up and the station fuel pump shut off (full) there was a small amount of fuel that spilled out of the top of the tank. Just crawled under and looked at everything and don't see anything leaking but there is some fuel leaking from somewhere because the tank has fuel on it and I smell it every time I get out of my truck. I will figure it out but my question to my fellow TDR friends is has this ever happened to you after you have installed this module or the Dodge unit? Educate me.

What module did you install and what year truck? Sound like you may have left something a little loose on top of the tank or maybe cross threaded the large plastic nut that holds the module to the tank.

It's a 2001 3500 and it the Jeep Liberty that Vulcan Diesel sells that I installed. They are $200 less than what Dodge quoted me for a replacement. I tightened the big plastic nut as tight as I could without breaking it, but can still move the unit(barely). Think I will pull it and seal around the edge then tighten back down. The electrical connector matches up and I'm still at a loss as to why the fuel level is erratic. May try to reposition to see if maybe the float is hanging up. Appreciate the response from both of you.

I am sorry I completely misread you first post.

I thought the gauge never worked right to begin with. The leak could be a loose ring. I used a chain wrench to tighten mine.

As for the level, the sender does just clip inside of the module, it *could* have come loose. I don't think so...

My 98 has a heavy gasket around the top, assy can't move once the big plastic nut is secure. If you have movement, good chance you will leak. My fuel arm is longenough that if the assy turns, the float could hang up, tank is really not that wide.

Hmmm... gasket? That's the problem. There is no gasket. That would be why the module moves and leaks. All I see on the old piece is a bunch of crud, which I'm guessing is the old rotted gasket or the remains of it. New gasket will be the next move. I'm also going to rotate it a little to fix the fuel level issue. Thanks for the help!
