I am sure there are plenty of guys here that know, what is the largest tire I can run with the stock suspension? I would prefer tall and narrow, thanks, Glen

I'm interested on this too, but here is a wag: 255-85-16. I think the biggest prblem is rubbing in the turns. Just a guess though,

I'm sure this has been discussed here many times, You might do a search on tires.

I put on the 255/85's with the 1. 5 inch over front springs and they would rub when turning and there was a bump like into a driveway. I put the 2. 5 inch over springs on and didn't have anymore problems. I also ran 285/75's on that truck with the 2. 5 inch over springs without any problem. Here's a picture with the 285's and the 2. 5 inch springs. #ad

I did a search for tires, man, that will get you some results! I thought maybe somebody had bought something that was tall and skinny and worked great. Maybe a 245 85 16? If they make such a critter... Thanks, Glen

The 255/85 is the tallest skinniest tire you will find within normal tire sizes, it is 33. 2 inches tall and fits on a 6 inch rim. I ran them on the 93 and also put them on my dually.

glen,

when i bought my W250 (in stock condition), the p. o was running 255/85R16s. i didn't notice any rubbing.

presently, i am running 295/75R16s with a 1" lift. they do rub when turning into dips or bumps.

of course, if you really want tall and skinny (which is the look i love, too), then you'll want to lift your truck nice and high to make room for some 9. 00R16 michelin xzl tires! these babies fit on 16" rims while standing 36. 5" tall. because they are so skinny, they tuck up into the wheelwells much better than an equivalent height mudder. try this link to get some more info. they are hard to find, but we can dream can't we?

Those are the perfect tire for a Kaiser M715. I have some persoanl experience with the kaiser and the tire, excellent tire. Sometimes they can be bought from the DRMO, Ft. Riley just released a bunch of them. They have great bite and wear like iron. Glen

I went with 235/85R16s and my speedometer if off by 5 mph at 70, indicates 75 to run 70. I am assuming I need a little taller tire. The front of my 91 has plenty of room around the tire. I think I will try 265/75R16s or 285/75R16s. My 93 has tires that are too short on it as well, I am going to move the 235/85s over to the 93. I never can do things the easy way. Glen

Log on to www.Tirerack.com and do some comparisons. Search by tire size and then pick the tire you want and click on "specs", it will tell you all you want to know including diameter. You don't want to buy LT265/75s, they are the same diameter as your 235/85s (+/- a couple of tenths depending on manufacturer).

Thanks, I went to the local friendly tire store and tried a 285/75R16, the height is there, but it is too wide. Looks like my best shot will be a 255/85R16. Seems I am always the oddball in the crowd... .

Partsman: Do you have any lift on yours?

I just bought an '89 "work" truck.

When the tires that are on it are shot I would like to put on 33's

Thanks, KO

Our W350 single wheel at work has 33x12. 50/16. 5s on 10" wheels with no lift. It has zero rubbing. It actually has negative lift, the stock front springs are sagged out from the Reunnel bumper and warn 8274 :D

Mine definitely has a nose in the air attitude, almost like the rear springs are sagging. Maybe it has hauled too many Colorado Hosses. :-laf :-laf I was considering adding a block to the rear, but it appears to have a plenty tall enough block in there from the factory. I'll try to get some photos posted soon. I know my dogs can jump in this one much easier than they can the 250, I suspect the nose up and fifth wheel tailgate has something to do with that. Glen

I've 285/75/16 Bridgestone Mud's on my 92 W350 SRW.

It has a steel bumper and Warn 8274 hanging off the front too.

Never even close to rubbing.
