I am thinking about converting my W250 to a W350 and I am wondering what all I need to do this? Is the rear axle a different size or can I use some sort of adapters? What needs be done with the front axle? I will be putting a flat bed on it so that will take care of that. Is there anything else I would need?

Thanks

David

On the rear axle. Yours is to narrow if your thinking about throwing duals on it. So the other options are finding a dually axle or a cab and chassis axle. The C&C axle is the narrowest of the two. It is around 6" wider than your current axle. The dually is about 12" wider than your axle.

There are adapters made to convert the SRW axle to duals. I do not recommend then.

On the front axle I am not sure what is needed besides the dually hubs and maybe spindles.

With your truck being geared with 4:10's you could find rear axles pretty easy most likely. That is the gearing most of the gasser 1 tons used. The 4:10 fronts might be harder to find. Most gasser 1 tons were 2X4's.

I speak from experiance. If you look up some of my past posts on my crew cab rear axle you will understand a bit better. My crew has the adapters and they are a pain. Also you have to pull both wheels off to snug up the adapter lugs as snugging up the tire ones only tighten up the wheels to adapter. I am also currently looking at replacing my rear axle because of them.

O yah. As for the front you can leave it the way it is although it kinda looks funny on a 350 to have 250 hubs and all. I am also looking at doing the front.
