Airless sprayers are great time savers if the conditions are right.



Interior: There is some overspray. It is much, much less than an air sprayer, but expect to do a lot of masking, covering, protecting areas. I only use my sprayer (similar, but different brand) when the room is empty, no trim, and I'm spraying the ceiling. Walls only if same paint as the ceiling. Again, everything has to be covered.



Exterior: Perfect application of an airless sprayer. Use pieces of cardboard to mask off areas you don't want painted. Expect some trim touch-ups, especially if you don't have much experience with handling the spray gun. On the outside of the house a lot of painting can be done in a very short time.



Negative: After use, you MUST clean the unit completely, according to the directions. Taking short cuts will mean your expensive sprayer will be a one time use sprayer. Pay attention to the lubricant flush and storage requirements. I don't store my sprayer in an area that freezes in the winter.



Now if you knew all this and just wanted feedback on the brand... sorry for the verbiage...

mom is a general contractor and had a huge painting job (compared to what she was use to doing by hand) about a year and a half ago and we thought we'd try a "paint crew" and after the 3rd one crapped out in a week or so we gave up on wagner, i think one was DOA and the 1st and 3rd died short and messy deaths

First of all,, airless is the only way to go in the applications to which airless applies. Structures etc. They really pump the paint. You gotta be ready to haul. They can pump 5 gals before its time for another beer.



Now,, I borrowed the Wagner Crew one time while mine ( a Graco ) was broken down. (Motor brushes it turned out)



I would not buy the Wagner. One reason is you place the paint in the machine so you have all that extra to clean up. Other than that it worked ok though.



Go to a Graco, or even those Campbell Hausfields that you see in Northern Hydraulics once in a while. Tehy work good and are not to expensive.

I bought one at Costco for $175 to paint the stucco exterior of my house. The first day, it ran great. I spent an hour and a half cleaning it. The second day not so good. On the last day it ran pretty crappy with lots of sputtering. Over all, it saved me a weeks work so I guess it was worth the money...
