One of my coworkers asked me to post this as he doesn't have a computer. His wait to start light flashes constantly while the engine is running and he doesn't know how to fix it. I have a 95 diesel and am no help. Any 1st. gen owners with help would be appreciated.

This could be a wiring problem. I'm not sure what makes this light stays on but I think it could also be a problem. It explains it in the owners manual. If he doesn't have one, post back and I'll read what it says in mine.

Mine did this when I got water in the connectors between the engine and the computer. There are two connectors to clean and make sure they are dry. The first one is behind the engine near the firewall, and one on the fender near the relays for the heaters.
Mine flashed after I tried to wash the engine and never got them dry. After all these are cleaned and dry, disconnect the battery for about 5 min to reset the computer.
If this doesn't work, there is a short in the system going to the air manifold temp sensor, water in fuel sensor or the relay system. Look for a rubbed wire on the engine or on the fender. The other option is that the manifold temperature sendor is AFU.
Hope this helps. BTW I had a post about 3 or 4 months ago on this.

Mine did the same thing; took about 3 trips to the dealer to convince them the air intake manifold temperature sensor was bad... ... changed it out, problem went away.
