More transmission woes...

48RE - no 3rd. or OD

My 06 Dodge is a 3/4 ton Quad cab, 2WD, and auto transmission. I have 244,000 miles on it. Recently the "wait to start" light comes on when in hilly terrain. It will stay on for a while and goes off. I still have the orginal injectors. The engine still runs great. No white smoke but gets a little rough during idle but only last for a few seconds. Am I looking at Injectors or some other future problem. The truck runs great and we do pull a 25 foot Airstream trailer.

Good chance it is injectors, that is a leak detection DTC setting the WTS light. When it gets bad enough you will get 10 dings and it will derate power. Right now you are probably getting motoring, thta is how it usually starts.

Try a search, I have posted the diagnostic several times in the past for this. It is because the CP3 can't maintain pressure.

Thanks very much for the information. The WTS light does not come on all the time. When we get back to San Antonio in October I will have to make a decission. Would I replace injectors with new or reconditioned ones. I have had this truck since new and have always taken care of it. Another decission on whether to purchase a used newer truck. I'm 79 and don't have that many years to travel.
