My other passion

VW Commercial (Funny)

At what temperature does the wait to start activate on a Jetta TDI. I looked in the owners manual and the temperature is not stated. My DW asked because this is her car and she knows that my wait to start on the Cummins will come on at 60F and lower.

She has not seen the light on as yet and we have had some early morning temps in the lower 40F range.

Thanks

My beetle manual says not much glowplug time till temp. drops below 40F. The light should come briefly when key is turned to on,they are designed to not need glowplugs till it gets real cold.

I have a 2004 tdi pd. every time I turn on key the glow plug lite goes on. you have to look good it goes on briefly, the colder it gets longer it stays on. my $. 02 pete.

Circut breaker/fuseable link

Based on old VW Diesel experience. Do you have a fuseable link in your glow plug circuit? In the old non turbo diesel VW's the Glow plug circuit had an aluminum strip, fuseable link in a box on the firewall. That may have been phased out a long time ago? Just thought it was worth mentioning. GregH
