Why is my wait to start light not staying on??? Truck is cold sat for 8 hrs. I go out hit the key light goes right out!! Ididnt hear the grid heaters kick on so I turned key off then back on still no grid "whine"??? What gives??? I went ahead and started it and the motor really chugged for about 5 seconds until it finally smoothed out. Thanks for your help guys..... Smokin Joe

Ususally even a 8 hr sit is not very long acording to the grid heaters. The thing reads the temp of the air inside and if it has trapped some heat from the last start, the heaters won't run much. Takes like 12-16 hrs for the whole engine to get really cold for a long Grid heat. You see, after you started it, the manifold got a dose of cold air from the intercooler and the heaters worked then. You can tell if the heaters are working when the engine is on by the volt meter... . goes down to 12-13... I bought the grid heater saver from practical solutions so that the grids turn off once the engine coolant is at 70 degrees. Makes them last longer... .
