DC customer service stated that they will not be able to give me a build date as they are waiting on "600's". Anyone else get this story??????

Call them back as ask what status your order is in. That way you will know where your order is. If it's in BGL status, then it could be anything, as it just means that they are missing a part(s). If it's BX, that means they have all parts and just need to schedule the build. I feel as though the rep just made up the "Waiting for Cummins 600" to get you off the phone. It could be something like tow hooks or a radio that you ordered that is on back order. Remember, manufacturers use just in time for builds so if they don't have any motors, nothings going to get scheduled to built as I see others have been scheduled.

I just took delivery of my 04 Ram on December 30th, and discussed this new engine with dealer. In fact I gave them the article from the Website (thanks Joe D) so they got information about it before Chrysler told them.

The sales person had been the week before to a Meeting in Detroit with Chrysler the week before and was told that first quarter 04 that only 8000 Cummings would be available for build which is 1/4 the normal output of engines so he fully expects there to be major delays on orders placed after the first of the year as the pipeline may already be filled up or sold out.

Just wait until the new marketing campaign comes out. Doesn't make sense to run ads now if all production capability is being sold out. I for one am very happy with my 04 and hope they do run some real kick azz TV commercials during the super bowl so I do have something to watch that day.

They have indicated that it is BX status which to my understanding is that everything has been approved and it is ready for to be scheduled. The DC customer service person this time did not indicate that there was any issues with pieces but did tell me that they will not be changing any BX status to vin's and build dates until after the 1st of February.

I just got a call from my dealer this morning. I ordered a 600 series on 12/22. Truck has been built. Due to arrive at my dealer in Ca. Feb. 2 or 3rd. Try talking to your dealer direct and have him check through their network. . He should be able to tell you the exact status.

I don't usually have good results from "Customer Service" They are more like "Customer No Service" Good Luck!
