Dead Short

What's better, Costco or Sam's???

Well, my wife and I decided that the $699,000 house was not a good deal. We took our parents to see the house and do a really good walk thru. My mother in law is an ex real estate agent, and my dad is a retired architect, and he specialized in residential homes. Well we found significant water intrusion into the weather side windows, a serious bat guano infestation, and my dad found the deal killer, it appears that the garage was poorly constructed, and a portion in the middle was not properly supported, leading to a potential colapse of the garage. So even though the cummins would fit inside, I was not about to risk the potential damage if the thing failed in an earthquake or big wind storm. But in reality, we feel good about walking, and have made an offer on another, even more expensive house. Ahhh Kalifornication!!!!! Wish us luck. Matt

Find A Place With A Big Garage

A flawed garage won't due! We need a suitable BOMB shelter:) Spare no expense Ranger Dick!

ChillyDog,

Ya gotta get outta the woods more often..... :D ;)

Housing prices around large metro areas are outtasight.

A small 3BR colonial 2 blocks from my house, with maybe a 1/4 acre lot just sold for $400,000.

A split level 3BR house I bought as a rental for $179K 6 years ago was just appraised at $285K

Shoulda bought two of 'em, HUH

Welcome to Washington (D. C. that is..... )

Some of these prices don't make sense. I have friends in San Jose that paid 400,000 for a little 1200 sq. ft. 3 bedroom ranch. Where I live you can buy that same house for $70,000. Also it is prettier where I live and peaceful. I guess I'm just lucky to be a country boy!!! :)

My parents built their house for $30,000 in 1969 when I was born. They were in their early 20's. It's worth around $400,000 now! They live in a suburb of Boston, MA. Man would I love to move back to that area of the country! Southern NH somewhere. Someday!

I walked away from a 3/4M house once...

... It wasn't for sale, and I wasn't a potential buyer, and I didn't know the owner, but I was near it, and then I walked away... .

I just hope (don't take this the wrong way, now) that about the time I get ready to sell this place and move back to "God's Country" (northeastern Oklahoma), there'll be some really big major catastrophes in SoCal, and lots of carpetbaggin' liberal scum coming up I-15 to LV with BIG  insurance chex in hand, and not too much energy for bargain-hunting!

I'd gladly hyper-appraise this place to about 350-400K for a "sure deal", and the buyer'd probably still have some change to stick in his new Nevada bank account... . everybody happy!!!

Huh?

Don't take this the wrong way but...

Northeastern Oklahoma???? :confused::confused::confused::confused:

..... try Alaska or Montana

I'm in Ca and paid 99. 000 for my "shack" (in 86) on a small lot. 1300 sq ft nothing fancy but nice, just can't see being slave to a big a$$ payment. Besides, Mom was able to stay home and raise the kids rather than an unconcerned party.

A previous post said "you only walked!"... . I agree. Just my opinion.

There is a book called "Places Rated" that covers the U. S. cost of living, seems most coastal areas are pricey, also weather is a factor. So I figure if you use those things you're paying for, weather, coastal location etc. live there, if not go to the boondocks and relax.

Why am I here? X-lint job with 8-10 years till retirement... sort of stuck. When I don't work. . I'm outta this over crowded cesspool! CA is nice, just too many people and they're all in a hurry!
