I've read most of the oil war threads, but have never seen wally world farm and fleet 15-40 discussed. . Walmart does not have their own refinery-they buy from one of the five majors, and since the CH standard was only around for about two years, I think one of them must have had a ton of it and sold it to Walmart cheap when the standard became CI. According to my factory manual, the required standard is CE, so CH is a bleedin' GIFT, and at $4. 44 per gallon, combined with the stratapore filter, a 6K oil change becomes quite economical and practical. I drive 70K miles a year, so this works. Any comments on Walmart farm and Fleet 15-40 CH standard?

The Wally world 15w40 I have seen (Super Tech 2000 or something of that ilk; blue-grey jug) has been rated for CI-4. THe CI-4 has only been around a year and a half like you said, so the CH-4 would probably be just as good for our application. Apparently the change to meet CI-4 requirements werent as big as some had anticipated- prices didnt go up dramatically because of it.

Wally world sells Delo 400 at about $6. 30+- a gallon= good stuff. Personally I like drinking the name brand colas not the el cheapo wally world labeled cola. Bill

I have used wally world oil for a couple hundred thousand and no problems. In every thing lawn mowers tractors combines both CDT trucks wifes van. A fiew k miles ago I was laid off and that was all I could aford no problems so I stuck with it. I change my oil every 6- ( If I forget)25k. Witch ever comes first.

I DO NOT RECCOMEND THE FOLLOWING CHANGE SCHEDULE but I know a guy who NEVER CHANGES HIS OIL. I sold him a chevy with CTD and he drove it over a 100k miles and never once change the oil. It was still running when he parked it. His theory is that he can replace the engine with the oil money. The 5. 9 is getting cheap enough in the used market to change for 12 to 15 hundred dollars. He may be right.



I change my oil at 10k interval and have run over a couple thousand a time or two. I am at 410k and lots of those were with AMSOIL. It just got too expensive and I switched to Delo. I watch the oil and change it early if it starts to looking (smelling) bad.

I've used the super-tech for 10 years with no problems in all my vehicles, motorcycles, lawn tractor, edgers and my chainsaw. One good product if you ask me. And with the money I save, I'm eating steak and lobster every weekend.



My truck and scooters are the only ones to get the synthetic super-tech. I change filters every 5K and a complete oil change at 15K. Sample checks have shown no degradation concern. It's all good

I'm pretty sure that wall mart gets their own branded oil from Quaker state.



They have another brand oil (very good brand, but the name escapes me right now) at 5. 88 gallon. I think it's made by Mobil maybe???



FWIW I use the Rotella.

JStraw I guess your buying dinner then... What do you guys think about changing oil, oil and fuel filters every 6 MONTHS reguardless of mileage? BTW I only run about 5-6k miles a YEAR. Mostly empty stop and go city driving.

I'd second your motion. I reach the miles LONG before I reach the time, but I have a problem with oil of any kind being in my vehicle more than 6 mo. Mom went 2 years on the rear diff on her pickup. "I just forgot about it. " Um, you've had the rear end rebuilt, just after I put new LSD clutches in it (shop messed up pinion seal replacement, NOT my doing), and YOU FORGOT?!



I say if it meets the latest API requirements, it's good enough for my old jalopy. BTW- I'm now running either Rotella or Delo, depending on if I want a blue or white jug in the bed. Still no FRAM filters for me, though.

If you can afford to buy elsewhere, go for it.

But, I think one of their "breaks" come from their wages- about $6. 50 an hour on average to start, with $. 25/hr raises at 6 mo, 12mo, and 24 mo, etc. They also coerce their suppliers into lowering their prices, usually after the supplier sets up for the big numbers Wal Mart wants, then wants them for EVEN LESS the second time around.

Sell the worst for more and advertise? OK, I'm by no means sticking up for Wal Mart, but you might want to rethink that. Advertising costs money; selling cr@p costs money in the long run. The Rotella and Delo are the EXACT SAME jugs that you see in the farm sotres for a dollar a gallon more, only WalMart dusts their stock once in a while. How are they (WM) getting CF-4 oil into a CI-4 bottle and selling it as such? And have you ever considered the sheer quantities of oil Wal Mart buys on a weekly basis? More than most local shops buy in a year or two.



You dont normally get rich by scr#wing people; you get rich by working hard, and knowing opportunities when you see them, and having a little backing to be able to take advantage of them. [there ARE exceptions to this..... ] We all know how Wal Mart, et al, is going to be the demise of the American culture, so go buy at your local Mom and Pop shop, make your campaign contributions to the prosecutor and keep your Gestapo running smoothly, keeping all strangers and newbies out.



Unlilke some of the other forums, we 1st Genners dont take too kindly to bashing of a business or brand, esp when a legitimate question was asked about the quality of a product. As you have never set foot in a WM store, and thusly, I would assume, never used their products (at least not to YOUR knowledge),what would you know about their products?

Having worked as a lube engineer for one of the five majors, I can assure you thay you will be more than safe using the Wally World 15W-40 Diesel Engine Oil with the CI-4 Rating. Walmart will contract to have the oil packaged by one of the majors. All of the majors offer a premium diesel engine oil (such as Rotella T or Delo 400) and they also offer a fleet grade diesel engine oil that also meets the API CI-4 Specs - the fleet grade oil is what Wally World sells.



The difference bewteen the fleet grade and premium diesel engine oils is as follows: Typically, the fleet grade diesel engine oils will not have as robust of an additive package. In other words, if the need for an extended drain or extended severe service operation arose, the Wally World packaged oil / fleet grade oil will have a higher probability of degrading sooner than the premium engine oil. Fleet grade engine oils were developed for the very large OTR fleets that have predictable routing and mileage - the engine oils were changed at predictable and safe intervals.



Typically, the premium oils will use an additive package that is proprietary and very advanced. The premium oils may also use a better grade base stock.
