Just go by the dust layer on the box, no dust means new.

The Walmart by me almost never has DEF . The stuff flys off the shelf. So it’s always fresh. Unlike at the auto parts or Home Depot.

Same here, it doesn't stay on the shelf to go bad! Biggest thing that was a problem with the Walmart DEF was seals loose under the caps! Haven't seen the box type yet around me, was still in the blue jugs. Looks like they are all coming out of same plant, just different boxes going around the jugs! I've used Walmart and Travelers from TSC. No problems with them. Can't seem to pay the price for any other jug/box brands as DEF has to be made to a certain spec! Waiting for the code breakers to give us more info to use.

No, I wanted to but did not have time and why I was not at all happy to see the stupid Def blue code type dating....

Age is not nearly as important as storage temperature. It can be a few years old if stored at 70 deg or cooler, but at 140 deg it degrades quickly. I recommend a gauge to test it. Mine cost about $25 on line.

I just bought a jug with a aug 23 mfg date and it was still in the blue plastic jug, I did notice it has a foil seal now, not the loose fitting styrofoam one used previously.

Just picked up a jug with 07-28-23 date, still has the styrofoam seal. My last jug did not have a date.
