Does anyone have any good or bad inputs on Walmart brand synthetic oil.

Who makes it?

I have no intention of using it in my Cummins but have some gas jobs that I'd mite use it in if I can get some decent feed-back.

I don't have any bad information about it because I have limited use with it. However, my friends and I did use it in a Datsun B210 that we beat the heck out of in the desert and never had any problems with it. We even bent a push rod and drove it home with no other damage to be found. :-lafI personally wouldn't use it in a $40,000 truck but it would be a cheap oil for a gasser.

Most of this oil is blended and bottled by Shell. If you look on the container and see the words HLP and some numbers, HLP refers to Houston Lube Plant, where they bottle and blend most if not all of the Super Tech Motor Oils.

No worries,, as stated earlier, go to Bob is the oil guy and read. You will be hard pressed to not find what you are looking for there.

Search around for the TDR article or link about oil analys's's's ... sss. It mentions something about Walmart oil testing pretty good when new.

ASHLAND OIL makes a lought of oil also. Ther top line is VALVOLINE.

To clarifiy this statement, there is no "one" single vendor for this oil, it is blended by warren performace products, Exxon, Shell, etc..... It more or less depends on where you are located. Our walmarts have shell blended and warren.

Ya get what you pay for

When buying anything Walmart, take a look at the product number. If there is a "W" in the number, the product is specially made for Walmart. Generally this means it has been decontented or reduced in quality in someway to meet Walmart's price point. This doesn't mean the special W product will not perform, just that when comparing products, be sure you are comparing identical products (apples to apples, not apples to Walmelons).

It also depends on the low bidder...

Most of the 15w40 diesel oil UOAs of SuperTech show it is very close to Rotella, but I'm sure it varies by contract and area also.

I know of several people running it, one in particular claims 30k on it (running a Frantz TP bypass filter) with UOAs looking good.
