Hehehehe, remeber, this is a DIESEL site, lol. Anyway, I hooked up with Dieselb59 (Chris T. of the Auto Wurks Diesel fame) this weekend to check out his latest upgrade, 6" stacks. We managed to get take a few pics. , thought that I would share them with you. Chris did a beautiful job on the install and they sound GREAT!!!! Here's some pics.....

Cool stacks!... makes me want some!:) but I would want to put them on a flat bed... Like it better that way! great smoke too:D Jim

I saw a couple of these Diesel Wurks trucks at Carlisle. A white dually with a stack in the bed and another with a 6" pipe underneath. Definetly an attention getter!

I didn't get to hear the sound but both trucks looked pretty tricked out.

RBallard, the dually with a single stack is the A. W. D. racer. The truck with the 6" exhaust below was Chris' truck before the stacks.

Thanks Scott!!

Thanks so much for the time and the use of the digital camera on Saturday. Indeed as Scott had said, it was my truck with the 6 inch under truck exhaust. That is now a thing of the past and the stacks kinda help keep that one rear wheel just as clean as the other three. At this time, I'll remind Scott that in just over 30 hours, his truck will be even faster and smokier than ever! I'll see you Wednesday morning and probably talk to you online sooner.

No, thank you!!!

Chris, needless to say, I'm sleepless in Vernon right now, awaiting Wednesday. Maybe we can make that old and tired :D 6" born again on a 24V, what do you think? I arranged to have the entire day free, should be a good one.

Just looking at the truck I would have assumed it had been retrofitted with a gas turbine engine. Overkill is always almost just enough. Keep up the good work. :)

Well, what you see is a whole lot of miscellaneous pieces that came from over a week of putting it down on paper, then checking with the local heavy duty truck parts distributor to see what was available in chrome, inside diameter, outside diameter, length of stacks, etc. I ended up finally getting the whole system where we only had to weld an elbow to a t-fitting, and had to custom make some clamps and one mounting tab. Everything else was a slip fit and went together relatively easily. Stainless steel band clamps hold it all together with the exception of the mounting tabs and supports, which are chrome guillotine clamps strategically placed to provide a functional support, while remaining pleasing to the eye. We DO plan on doing this many more times to anyone's truck who wants it. The biggest things to consider are the fact that every truck is different in some aspect, and that cutting the hole requires a bunch of those differences to be considered. I drilled a few 1/8 pilot holes from the bottom to give me an idea of where the support was when I was drilling from the top. I got rid of all the extra holes when I drilled the big one. My planning took all that into consideration and the bigger hole saw covered all the marker holes, so they were in the scrap that ended up inside the hole saw bit. It took just under four hours from start to finish, including unbolting and chiseling through some of the stuck fasteners that held on the old hangers to the frame. All of them had to go to make room underneath.

Bottom end pictures

Do you guys have any pictures of how you hooked the two stacks together? I am going to be getting some stacks off of our farm truck that are six inch, and would like to install them on my pickup. I would hook them up under the bed but the fuel tank is in the way on the drives side.

Damn, I was just down at A. W. D. today and could have taken the pics. you need. I should be heading back that way in a week or so, I can take some then if the time frame is okay with you. Let me know.

BigSaint: I'm still trying to finish my brake, bearing, and shock repair so I wont be working on my stacks until this weekend or monday.

BTW do those stacks resognate (sp) and make the sound loud

Stacks

I am currently working on putting dual 4" stacks on my truck. I am using a 3" x 5" rectangle tubing for the bottom piece for attaching the stacks to. This way, all I have to do is cut a 4" hole in the bed directly over the stock exhaust pipe and add a 90 degree elbow with a short piece of flex for engine movement. I am also cutting out sections of my tool box so it can be mounted in the same place as it was prior to the stacks. Should look great when finished!!!!!

Notching the tool box

Red360, I had thought of doing the square or rectangle tubing idea but I was going to cut it down the center and put in a piece of four inche tubing that has and air gap around it so it would stay cooler kind of like triple wall stove pipe for going through a roof, but maybe it would just end up heating up the square piece anyway

I really like the idea of notching the tool box because I would like to keep my box where it is, and my home made side rails and L-shape fuel tank. The tool box and tank could use some paint anyway, so why not use the Sawz All why I'm at it ;)

You guys sure come up with some good information on anything I want to know. :D

Het Big Saint !

Where did Diesel59 come up through the bed at ? I was looking underneath mine yesterday, and was planning on coming up through the bed right in the middle. But there is no way in a short bed that there is enough room to come up throuh the bed with a 5" pipe in the middle of the bed. About 4" behind the front of the bed there is a cross-member ..... I am liking the idea of coming up through the bed with 1 pipe and having the Y in the bed. Am I going to have to come up theough the bed off center ? Any advice would be appreciated in advance, thanks !
